Meet Sarah

Sarah Roberts KPA CTP
(Karen Pryor Academy Certified Training Partner)

Hi I'm Sarah,

I am a certified dog trainer and a graduate of the Karen Pryor Academy of Animal Training and Behaviour.

I wish i'd known then what I know now...

Being a first time dog owner (or even being an owner who, for the first time is experiencing behaviour issues with your dog) can be overwhelming. After adopting my first Siberian Husky Kiara 13 years ago, I was feeling exactly that.

As well as the normal challenges that come with being a first time puppy owner I found that I really struggled with the amount of varying (and often inaccurate) information out there in regards to training. I made a lot of mistakes and, had I known then what I know now, would have done a lot of things very differently.

This experience was what compelled me to learn more about animal behaviour and training and become certified so that I could help people and their dogs live the happiest possible lives together.

Using our knowledge and understanding of animal behaviour along with skilled training can give us the ability to communicate with our dogs more effectively. Providing our dogs with a repertoire of behaviours and cues essentially gives us a language in which we can speak with our animals to help them navigate their lives with us.

Our dogs are always learning...

We know from our own experiences as humans, how much more powerful learning can be when it's fun (we always remember our favourite teachers right?). I enjoy empowering owners so that they have the skills to teach their dogs without the need for fear or intimidation. I love witnessing the positive impact teaching this way has on my client's relationship with their dog and in turn their dog's behaviour. That is the bit that's so reinforcing for me as a trainer and why I love what I do.

Thanks for stopping by and happy training! :)

Sarah
